Vimāna (विमान) literally means “measuring out” or “having been measured out.”
When something exceeds human scale, we perceive it as Adbhuta—the rasa of wonder or astonishment, one of the Navarasas.
In Sanskrit and South Indian traditions, Vimana refers both to flying machines and to the soaring towers (Gopuram) of temples—forms that transcend human scale.
This sculpture explores the rasa of Adbhuta through the symbolic and architectural dimensions of the Vimana.
